A Little Easter Craftiness

I saw these fun yarn eggs on Pinterest and immediately thought they'd make a fun wreath. So I made a BUNCH using yarn in my stash (all leftover from other projects). They got better over time and I eventually picked my favorites to make this wreath. To make the wreath, I connected the eggs with a bit of glue and then reinforced the wreath by putting two rounds of clear fishing line through the middle of the eggs (to help hold the round wreath shape). To make the eggs, see the tutorial on the original post. Make sure you follow the directions to wipe off the excess glue before you wrap the yarn or they won't look as good. I used around 25 feet of yarn per egg. I felt the wreath needed a little something extra so I found the cute little birds at The Dollar Tree.

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter today!

We had a great one. Both boys were thrilled with their Easter baskets this morning.

J quickly got to work building a small Lego fire helicopter from his basket.

N was excited about the cat grooming toy he got.

But he was even more excited about the CHOCOLATE! He jumped into eating his candy right away.He has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of his chocolate. On Thursday when I went to preschool for the boys' Easter parties, N came running up to me and told me, "The rabbit is coming and we get CHOCOLATE!" It was pretty adorable.

We did not travel to see family, but got together with our good neighborhood friends instead. We like to think of them as our adopted family. We also invited our new next door neighbors who just moved here from Seattle. We had a wonderful meal and then a really fun Easter egg hunt. All seven children seemed to really enjoy themselves.

A free pattern from Anna Hrachovec of Mochimochiland.
I used DK, Sport and Worsted weight yarn and size 2 doublepoints. I made ten between Friday night and Saturday night. I did a few extra rows of i-cord on the ears to make them a bit longer.

Easter Photo Eggs-travaganza

Well, despite the fact that we didn't get to spend Easter with family, we had a wonderful, wonderful Easter.

I only did one little Easter knit--this bunny nugget (free pdf pattern here). It was knit quickly the night before Easter because N's basket was looking a little bare.


The festivities started a week ago with the neighborhood Easter egg hunt and continued with John's Easter party and egg hunt at school...

Our Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

On Sunday afternoon we had a neighborhood Easter egg hunt organized by the Moms group I belong to. It was a lot of fun. We each filled 12 eggs for each of our children that were participating. Then a group of moms hid the eggs at a local park. The hunt was split into three age groups--0 to 2 years, 3 to 5 years, and school age children. The eggs for the two younger groups were just in the grass in two separate areas of a field. The eggs for the school age children were hidden in a woodsy area. Each child was allowed to pick up 12 eggs. N didn't really care much about picking up eggs, but J had a good time once he got over the crowds. After the egg hunt, we all hung out and had a potluck dinner. It was cold--in the 60s, but really windy--but still a lot of fun. Here are some pics. I don't have any great ones of N as I was hunting eggs with J most of the time.
