Movie Monday: Zoo Babies!

Apparently summer time is baby time at the zoo. We made a quick trip to the Dallas Zoo before the heat hit too badly yesterday and saw these little cuties.

Baby warthogs (Toby and Teddy) born June 13th:

Baby girl giraffe born in July:

She's five weeks old and already 6 feet tall.

Baby flamingo:
There are actually two baby flamingos (easily visible with their gray feathers).

Baby Colobus monkey born July 13th:

If you watch closely, you'll see the little white baby playing around the black and white adults.

Just had to share a little zoo baby cuteness this Monday morning. Happy Monday, everyone!

Movie Monday Redo: In case you were wanting more...

More swimming movies. :)

J diving for rings:

He's gotten so confident with his diving skills!

J swimming:

Hasn't he improved a lot even since the last video? So proud of my J!

And, last, but not least, N and J swimming. Yes, N started swimming on his own yesterday.

It's just the early stages, but I am SO proud of my little 3 year-old.

And, now, I promise to not post anymore swimming videos--at least not for a week or so :).

Movie Monday: Swinging Edition

A short movie of the boys enjoying our new swingset on Friday night. J has gotten to the point where he can sit down, start pumping his legs and get himself really high all on his own. He LOVES it. If you get N started, he can do some pumping and keep himself going. Life is good!

Meanwhile, I set my beer down to make the video and Pepper knocked it over and spilled it. Then she started rolling around in the spilled beer. I got a video of the end of her antics.

I love how she starts licking the beer spot in the end. Nice!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Movie Monday: Swim Lesson Edition

Last week J and N were doing swim lessons. It is AMAZING how much progress they have made in one week. Just had to share some videos from their lesson on Friday.

and a bonus video of N jumping to B:

Movie Monday: Cars Edition

N and I were playing with some Matchbox cars and the Little People garage this weekend. He thought it was really funny when I made the cars go down the ramp. It was so cute that I had to film it.

It's a little silly in that N is only wearing a diaper (I'd changed him out of his swimsuit, but not into clothes yet), but, otherwise, I thinks it's pretty adorable. Hope it made you smile. Happy Monday, everyone!

Movie Monday: For His Grandparents Edition

We checked a book of Mother Goose nursery rhymes out of the library recently. J LOVES it! Here are some videos of him "reading" the book to me. Only his grandparents will want to watch them all, but I just couldn't decide on just one to upload.

This is the longest movie. J is reading "Little Boy Blue" first. He doesn't really know this one so he made it up based on the pictures. He called the woman "Old Mother Goose." Next, he reads "Hey Diddle, Diddle" or as he calls it, "Hey Fiddle, Fiddle." He's more familiar with this one so he does a pretty good job with it.

This one is J "reading" Hickety Pickety My Black Hen. It's another new one so he has a little trouble. He calls it "Old Mother black chicken." He cracks me up!

This was another new nursery rhyme for J. Could you figure out what it was? This was "It's raining. It's pouring. The old man is snoring." J's version totally cracked me up!

The last one was one of J's old favorites--Humpty Dumpty. He does a pretty good job with this one. My favorite part is his ending "together togain."

For those who took the time to watch these, I hope they made you smile. Happy Monday, everyone!

Cake Time

I promised cake pictures and here they are. N was really cute. B made the cake. J picked out the icing colors. Enjoy!

Yes, this is how he ended up eating most of the cake. Don't believe me? Check out the movie.

Pretty funny, huh?

Movie Monday: Best Laugh Ever Edition

N has the best laugh EVER. I've never caught it on video when it really did him justice...until now! B and N were playing this game while I vacuumed. It was so cute that I had to stop and record it. Enjoy!

Movie Monday: Redneck Baby Bath Edition

N got a little messy with his mac n' cheese the other night. Pepper helped him out.

My friend Nicole and her son W came to visit this weekend. We had a blast! Here's a video of W and J during one of their many dance sessions. If this doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will.

Movie Monday: All I Want for Christmas Edition

We had a wonderful Christmas in Virginia with my family. Now we're busy trying to get settled back into life here in Texas--unpacking our bags, undecorating the house, putting away all our new goodies, and cleaning up all the mess that accumulated in the pre-holiday chaos. I have lots of blogging to catch up on--pictures from the holidays, details about knitted and crafted gifts, other life happenings. That will all have to wait for now as the mess that is my house is finally at a point that it is driving me CRAZY! For now, I will just leave you with this little video of N. I guess we didn't really need to buy him anything this Christmas...look at how much fun he had with this wrapping paper!

Happy Monday, everyone!

Movie Monday: Holy Hilarity Edition

I almost missed Movie Monday. Oops! The boys have been really hilarious again recently. N thinks that J is just the funniest person ever. The other night at dinner N just started laughing hysterically at J. Of course, J then started hamming it up to keep N laughing. I caught the tail end of it on film. Wish I had it all. Oh well.

Being the Christmas season, we have our nativity set out. J loves it! Last year he was mostly into the animals, but this year he just loves Baby Jesus. I think it's because we have so many books about the story of Christmas. Anyway, on Saturday, J grabbed baby Jesus and a sheep, handed B Mary and Joseph, and started racing around the house. It was a Holy Family Marathon and it was just too funny. This video doesn't do it justice, but you get a little bit of the idea.

Happy Holidays, everyone! Hope yours are filled with love and laughter.

Movie Monday: Already? Edition

Today was N's 6 month birthday. I feel bad. It kind of got lost in the shuffle of J's cold which lead into an ear infection which lead to a bad night's sleep for us all, and subsequent trips to the pediatrician, CVS and grouchland.

I can't believe my baby is 6 months old already. I know N will probably be my last baby. (I'd love another, but I think B, my body and fate have decided that two is enough.) So although I want him to grow and learn new things, I'm not ready for N to grow up too fast. So just to spite me, little N is doing everything early--or so it seems. He already has two teeth poking through (bottom ones) and two more just under the surface (top ones). He's already getting up on all fours and trying desperately to crawl.

My happy little peanut!

Can you tell that J had a hand in this ensemble?

Only 6 months old and he's already discovered a love of knitterly things!

And here's N talking to the sofa since it's in his way and he can't roll any further. My favorite part is when he decides to give up and eat his foot instead.

Oh, my N is 6 months old already. Happy Half Birthday, N!

Movie Monday: Yes, We Can! Edition (and Boys Update)

Our little future politician?

Big Barack Obama supporter?

No, just a big Bob the Builder Fan.

I didn't realize Barack Obama stole his campaign slogan from Bob the Builder.

J's really gotten into Bob the Builder ever since we got a Halloween movie with Bob the Builder in it. J is so funny. He has grown up so much in the last month. He is turning into such a little man. His new passion is helping B out around the house. He and B had a blast today hanging pictures. B let J help him drill a hole for a wall anchor and J's been wanting to make holes in the wall ever since. He even woke up from his nap calling for his daddy because he wanted to do more work. After naptime, J helped B fix two toilets. He was actually using a screwdriver to put the screws in and did a great job!

J has started singing songs and saying nursery rhymes (and his bedtime prayers). His favorites are Baa Baa Black Sheep and Itsy Bitsy Spider. He's gotten really good at blowing bubbles. J loves to sing and dance and his two latest discoveries are Sam Cooke and Chuck Berry. He is really into making things with paper; he loves to do the gluing and is starting to learn to cut. J has also learned to pull his chair up to things so he can climb up and get to things he's not supposed to get to. Well, I'm not thrilled with that skill, but he's really proud of himself when he does it.

N is also growing up in leaps and bounds. He is sitting up pretty well now. He continues to travel by rolling, scooting backwards, and turning in a circle. N even sometimes gets up on both knees with his hands up like he's going to crawl. He loves his exersaucer and still thinks J is hilarious! N also has the top edge of his first tooth poking through. My baby is almost 6 months old. I can't believe it!

N is doing great with his physical therapy for his Torticollis; in fact, he only has to go every other week now. His head is still somewhat misshapen so we are trying to decide if we need to do the helmet thing or not. I'd rather not, but I want to make sure we make the right decision. There is only a limited window of opportunity to do it. I don't want to not do it and then have N be upset by his head shape when he is older and it too late to do anything about it. Will keep you posted on that one.

That's all for now. My mom and dad arrive tomorrow. Can't wait! Have a happy Monday and a great week!

Movie Monday: Halloween Reading Edition

J and I are still reading Halloween books at bedtime. Today he started "reading" Five Little Pumpkins to me. It was so adorable, I decided to try and film it. Enjoy!

Happy Belated Halloween!
